Interactive “scale of the universe” visualization

A friend just forwarded me this very neat visualization on the web:  The Scale of the Universe 2. 

Just to give you a taste, here’s a screenshot.  But you should really go in and fiddle around. It’s quite fun.  The only negative point that I’ve got is that once you’ve zoomed in, there’s no way to simultaneously compare to some of the larger objects — and once you’ve gone in past viral size, you’re so far removed from any imaginable size that it’s hard to compare.  But that’s kind of the point, too…

And a plus:  good music from Kevin McLeod.  I’ve used his music in several of my video productions.  It’s all free (but a donation appreciated) and really good.  Check it out.
