For those of you who use or know of our PhET interactive simulations site, we’re trying to roll out a redesign of the site that’s geared for grades 4-8. But we’re struggling with a name. Any ideas?
- PhET Kids was deemed “too baby-ish” by some actual kids
- PhETmania (so far our favorite)
- Fresh Science by PhET
- Sim Science Playground
Update: here’s a couple more options:
PhET X –not good name
PhETbox – another weird name.
- PhET4PhUN – maybe
- PhET.Awesome – too young?
- PhETastic -too young?
- PhETlabs – maybe
- PhETmania – good

I still like my suggestion.
When do I get to see the kid version of PhET? I don’t see it on the normal PhET site.
How about K-PhET?
How about amPhETamines? PhETish? MOSPhET? PhETuccini?
Seriously though: PhETlabs sounds nice.
Maybe PhETworld.
I’d go with “The PhET Experience” (or “Project”) – makes it sound mysterious and enticing.
But really, as Rhett said, PhET by itself sounds nice.

Assaf, PhET itself is already taken. That’s the name of the main site. This site would be a spinoff of that site, specifically for kids in grades 4-8. The main PhET site is mainly for high school and college.
And Rhett, this is a project in the works… Launch won’t be for another 3-4 months I think. We’re just trying to come up with a good name and design right now.
